I really wanted a light weight CF door covered in Lexan. I got what I wanted, but I'm not sure I would do it again. It was quite a job fabricating the CF door frames. I lined them with Kevlar to prevent galvanic corrosion and aluminum backers where there will be rivets. The handle came from Hendrick Manufacturing and are typically used on RV's.
With regard to the CF door frames....Since you stated that you..."not sure I would do it again"...how would you advise a future builder on doorframes? (I want full gull similar to yours...not the two-piece from the factory) Thanks!~ joe hall hoover al
ReplyDeleteI would probably try AL square tube, or some other lightweight material to be attached to the Lexan. The Lexan and a frame together is very sturdy. Working with the CF was a real challenge.
